HOW TO PREVENT PLAQUE BUILDUP

At one time or another, you have probably noticed that your teeth have a bit of a fuzzy feel to them as you ran your tongue over it. This sensation is caused by a common dental issue known as plaque buildup. While it is not a big deal, letting plaque continue to build up on your teeth can eventually damage your teeth and gums, sometimes even causing tooth decay.

Avoid Too Much Sugar

Sugar, along with carbohydrates, is one of the main causes of plaque buildup. While it is unrealistic to avoid sugar altogether, you want to be sure that you are doing your best to limit eating or drinking too much of it. If you do, drinking water after doing so can help to wash off much of the sugar from your teeth.

Visit Your Dentist Regularly

While brushing your teeth, flossing, and using mouth rinse regularly will undoubtedly help you prevent plaque buildup, it is still a good idea to visit your dentist on a regular basis for a more thorough cleaning. Along with cleaning your teeth, your dentist will also be able to educate you about the different dental products that you can use to avoid plaque buildup. They can also help you develop a better understanding for how you should brush and floss.
